Yeah. Where I was last time... Apparently everyone there was dead, and we had to participate in something called the Reaper's Game. We had to form teams and earn points, and whichever team got the most points would be brought back to life.
There were a lot of different ways to get points, but killing other people earned the most. [ Grip tightening on his Americano... But not enough to crush the cup. ] So every Thursday night, at least one person would be killed. On Saturday, we'd investigate the murders and vote for a killer. On Sunday, the person voted for would be executed.
Also on Thursdays, people would get whisked away into... pocket dimensions? And usually come back on the verge of death.
As he listens to this, he sips his coffee every once in a while because wow. This... Sounds so awful. Rin is just nineteen? Sure. That's an adult, but no one deserves this. ]
Kill to revive...? That's just a bloody cycle. [ Another apology rests on his tongue, but... ] In the end, it worked out fine?
... Even if overall the end result is good in the grand scheme of things, people will always get hurt along the way if there are sacrifices to be made.
[ It's... Unfortunate, he thinks. There's no remedy aside from reaching an understanding. ]
But that isn't something you can say to people who are hurting. [ ... ] Of course I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.
