Oh- yeah. I've been doing competitive swimming since I was kid. [ He shrugs. ] It's kind of unimpressive compared to the skills other people have, like "sealing away calamitous evil".
[SWEET RIN. Kaveh doesn't wear socks, though, so he can at least slip his sandals off and push his pant legs up to dangle his feet in the water. He's wearing his IKEA fit so he's not as particular about it getting damp.]
I know what you mean. I've never really longed for that kind of role, but it is a little intimidating to be around such distinguished people. [He's famous back home, but he's still just an architect, after all.] ...Still, I don't imagine they'd appreciate being put on pedestals.
Mm, maybe. A good friend of mine is very intent on carrying out justice--I could see him being the type, perhaps, if he didn't like his card game so much.
[Saving the world on the regular versus getting to play Genshin Yu-Gi-Oh... a tough choice...]
He is. [Kaveh sounds fond... fwendship.] He seems so intimidating when you first meet him, but as long as you're on his good side, he'll hit you with the worst jokes you've ever heard.
[The word "were" catches him off-guard; a solemn reminder of their situation. Still, he tries not to let it show.]
A little while. He was technically my junior at the Akademiya, but I didn't really meet him until a mutual friend of ours introduced us. They've both been very kind to me.
[I misread that everyone wakes up to the initial alarm in my starter to becks so I'm committing to the idea that Kaveh somehow didn't wake up until Rin and Shu were gone
THEREFORE, in his panic, Kaveh has forgotten that texting is a thing and is looking for Rin!! He looks very relieved when he spots him, but he's still clearly concerned as he looks him over.]
[Rin is his son and also needs even more comfort than him, Kaveh suspects, so he easily allows this. He rubs Rin's back soothingly; it's the most useless type of comfort, because nothing they can do will change this, but he has to do something. He can't think about his own feelings right now.]
[Rin is so real tbh. In truth, it's almost nice--it feels like a complete reset, which is what he needs after the pain and stress of Friday and Saturday and the madness of Sunday.]
It is pretty nice. I haven't gone to a museum in a long time. [I'm just assuming museums exist in genshin, it's fine] I like the waterways, too--they remind me of home, a little.
In a way--but Sumeru's very large, and a river cuts through it. It connects Sumeru City, Port Ormos... a lot of different places. Sumeru City is built on the Divine Tree, but it sits along the river, so you can get there by boat.
We were by the sea where I lived, so there was always water around. But nothing like this, where it runs through the city and is part of the transportation there.
Seaside towns are nice. I always loved the lighthouse in Port Ormos--I drew a thousand pictures of it as a child. It was an honor to work on it after I graduated.
[Unfortunately Kaveh loves this and will encourage both Haru's art skills and Rin's obsession with him. Although privately he's thinking about the buttons and doubting Rin's assessment of Haru's skills but he won't say that]
It would be nice if they let us into some kind of studio--I'd love to see his work. What about you, Rin? [Is he an artiste too]
Oh? That's an excellent skill to have too. Were you thinking of applying it to something? A technological field, maybe? [Kaveh presents as an artist but he can't hide that he is a NERD]
week 0, tuesday, bm gym
Rin waves at Kaveh from the water. ]
Looking to stretch your legs?
no subject
Anyway, Kaveh is wandering in because he hasn't investigated the gym yet like the twink he is. He waves back!! Then looks around curiously.]
What's that smell? [it's the chlorine]
no subject
Smell? [ can you become noseblind to chlorine ] You mean the chlorine?
no subject
Chlorine? What's that?
no subject
It's a chemical they add to pools to kill germs. Y'know, since there are a bunch of bodies in the water.
no subject
Oh, I see. We typically swim outdoors in Sumeru... I wonder if they do anything similar in Fontaine?
no subject
Are you going to get in?
no subject
Though, that being said--] Your profile mentioned you swim fast? Do you do races, then?
no subject
Oh- yeah. I've been doing competitive swimming since I was kid. [ He shrugs. ] It's kind of unimpressive compared to the skills other people have, like "sealing away calamitous evil".

no subject
Yeah, I'm sure if they had the choice they'd take swimming over fighting evil. Or not, there are probably some people that enjoy it?
no subject
Mm, maybe. A good friend of mine is very intent on carrying out justice--I could see him being the type, perhaps, if he didn't like his card game so much.

A little while. He was technically my junior at the Akademiya, but I didn't really meet him until a mutual friend of ours introduced us. They've both been very kind to me.

The... Akademiya? [ help ] Is that your school?
week 0, friday
THEREFORE, in his panic, Kaveh has forgotten that texting is a thing and is looking for Rin!! He looks very relieved when he spots him, but he's still clearly concerned as he looks him over.]
Rin, there you are--are you okay?
no subject
I'm— okay. Did something happen?
[ Like. Other than the murder. ]
no subject
I saw the message, but you and Shu weren't there, so I got worried.
no subject
[ oh, but. ]
Kaveh... I'm sorry. Hikari...
no subject
...I know. I'm sorry too.
[They seemed like they were becoming friends, after all.]

Rin will give him a big squeeze before letting go. ]
If... uh, if you need anything let me know. It's okay if you need a day to rest.
no subject
Thank you, Rin. I will.
week 1, monday, canals
Is your intellectual side having fun with all these new places?
no subject
It is pretty nice. I haven't gone to a museum in a long time. [I'm just assuming museums exist in genshin, it's fine] I like the waterways, too--they remind me of home, a little.

[ is he remembering right ]

[ Not really. He can't picture this at all. ]
We were by the sea where I lived, so there was always water around. But nothing like this, where it runs through the city and is part of the transportation there.

Seaside towns are nice. I always loved the lighthouse in Port Ormos--I drew a thousand pictures of it as a child. It was an honor to work on it after I graduated.
no subject
You're an artist too? [ o: ] You and Haru have that in common.
no subject
But, oh!!]
Really? There are quite a few of us here. [He's glad!! He loves art and art lovers] Does he draw? Paint?
no subject
He does a lot of charcoal drawings, I think. But he's a natural with pretty much every medium. He's good at wood carving too.
[ sorry rin is obsessed with haru ]
no subject
It would be nice if they let us into some kind of studio--I'd love to see his work. What about you, Rin? [Is he an artiste too]
no subject
Maybe you can put in a request? I don't have any talent for art though... But I'm decent at math?
[ it's not as inspiring ]
no subject
no subject
But I figured if I don't make it as a swimmer, I could be an accountant.
[ this is a joke ]
no subject
so he nods encouragingly]
It'll help you keep track of your finances, too. Trust me, you do not want to end up in debt.
