I think Rin and Haru are right, it's self-preservation. And given the way this game has been going, it's not a bad strategy. I don't like it or agree with it, but I can sort of see the point. Kate said he had the ink, but I don't know if that's just what he told her or he showed her.
... just remember what our goals are. Achievements to solidify this and so we can bring everyone back. If we trust him enough not to use the ink for something dangerous, we can focus on him later.
